Pogwatigue: A Pottawatomie word meaning 'running water.' Early settlers chose this word as the original name for my hometown, Niles, Michigan.
Perambulation: roam, stroll, inspection of an area on foot.
My intent for this blog is to catalog my various local, regional, national, and perhaps someday international explorations. Originally, I found the blog a good vehicle to publish Google maps on the internet and all my initial posts have such a map embedded, but I don't limit myself to that genre. Almost all the posts will have a personal, geographic element. For the title, I chose Pogwatigue due to its ties to my roots roots and perambulations as a fancy, alliterative word to describe the content.
The night before the wedding, the bridge & groom arranged a sunset cruise from Key West Harbor for wedding guests to mingle. I was fortunate to be able to attend as my original travel plans didn't get me to Key West in time for boat's departure. Luckily, I was able to get on an earlier flight to Key West by flying stand-by. I didn't bring my GPS with me aboard the chartered catamaran, which is a shame because the course would have made a great track darting back and forth across the harbor. Of greater import, I definitely had my camera on me for the ride and came back with a few great shots, shots good enough to justify a mapless post. Enjoy.
