Yesterday, I made it to Badlands National Park at about 3:30 PM and spent the rest of the day there. I even camped overnight in the park. The sun was shining as I surveyed the first couple viewpoints, but soon slipped behind some dark clouds that looked especially gloomy to the south. I almost abandoned my plan to camp in fear of inclement weather. I'm very glad I didn't.
After a short (2 mile) hike, I mared the way to the Sage Creek Campground. It startred to sprinkle along the way. I got my tent up in the fading light of day. It rained for the first part of the night, but eventually quit. I even got out of my tent in the middle of the night to find a bright moon shining.
This morning I took my time packing up camp. Some bison were slowly grazing there way down a hillside alongside the campground. On my drive out I saw plany more--thankfully none blocking the road--and a prairie dog town.
