La Purisma was one of the 21 missions Spain established in the late 1700s to colonize California. Like most of the missions, it was abanoned & started to decay. Unlike, the other missions this one got a new lease on life during the Depression. CCC work crews restored the mission. Today, it is the most complete, albeit not original, of the missions.
